Loda Township Library Public Statement

The Loda Township Library will reopen Monday, June 1st.  We will offer lobby service only, with pick up in the lobby of preordered books, and everyone must wear a mask.  Only books/audiobooks/movies owned by Loda Township Library will be available at this time. No children in the building, and no computer usage.  We will be open Monday-Thursday, 9-2, and Saturday 9-1.  You can preorder books though the SHARE website ( or by emailing the director, at You will receive a call when your items are ready for pickup. Call the library at 217-386-2783 for more information.

Please take all appropriate precautions to ensure the health of you and your families!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Loda Public Library is to provide educational, informational, cultural, and recreational resources and services to all ages of people in the Loda Public Library. The library will provide access to the universe of information, and especially that information which is of immediate relevance and interest to the community it serves. The library seeks to accomplish its mission through prudent management and development of its resources and by providing access to materials and services to meet the present and future needs of the community it serves. In this effort, the Loda Public Library cooperates with other libraries and with other educational and governmental institutions. Special emphasis is placed on current popular materials. The library serves as a learning center and educational center for all residents of the community.

Loda Township Library

Loda Township Library was first established in 1897 as A. Herr Smith & E.E. Smith Public Library. Although the Library was designed to resemble a Carnegie Library, it is not a Carnegie. Our small library is proud to offer computer access, wifi,  e-books, inter-library loan, DVD's, and free bonded notary public.
